System Exclusive Information & Database

To keep things simple for you, we try to collect the SysEx messages structure for a variety of synthesizer.

 

Each synthesizer manufacturer has a specific message set to apply parameter changes. The goal is, that you just need to copy the desired parameter message for your synth and be ready to manipulate the parameter.

To expand the Command Database, we kindly ask you to provide SysEx message structures for synthesizer, if you have any. Thanks for your help!


SysEx Messages & Database

How to use

  • Every message has to start with F0 and has to end with F7.
  • XX Parameter value marker: the plug-in will replace "XX" with the values processed.
  • -- MIDI channel marker: the plugin will replace "--" with the selected MIDI channel.
  • A message should always be similar to F0 41 06 -- 81 XX F7
    41=Manufacturer, 06=Device Type, --=Midi Channel, 81=Paramter, XX=Value.

SysEx Checksums

Some devices require a checksum within in the transmitted SysEx message.
The Processor PlugIns provide three different checksum calculation methods:

  • #S = Standard: 7 least significant bits of the calculated sum
  • #T = Two’s compliment: subtracts the 7 least significant bits of the calculated sum
  • #X = XOR: bitwise XOR on all parts of the sum

To use one of the checksum methodes, the related command (#S, #T or #X) need to be positioned within the message, from where the checksum should be calculated. The actual checksum is automatically placed at the end of the SysEx message, just before the end byte (F7).

Example Roland D50 (TVF Filter Cutoff Lower Partial 1):
SysEx Message: F0 41 00 14 12 #T 00 01 4D XX F7 (sum calculated with Two's Complement method)
